Referral forms must be completed and submitted by the referring healthcare provider.
Families must have a child (Eighteen yrs or younger) being treated for cancer.
Minors are not permitted to stay without a guardian (even if the parents are minors, they must have a guardian stay with them).
Families must have a permanent address over 30 miles (subject to change) from OK Kids Korral. We do not serve those in need of transitional housing.
Families under investigation by CPS cannot reside at OK Kids Korral. If a family has a case opened during their stay, they will be asked to find other accommodations.
Families are expected to keep their suite tidy and help prepare the suite for the next family. Families are welcome to bring their own sheets & towels if they desire, but linen will be provided in each suite.
Only 1 suite will be given per family and no more than 5 people can stay in the suite.
Patients who travel the greatest distance with a financial need will receive priority placement over families who do not have to travel a long distance. Priority will be given to patients needing lodging for more than three nights to receive a minimum of three treatments.
Families MUST call OK Kids Korral 1 day before their arrival to OKC to confirm if a suite is available or not. Once confirmed the day before, the status of their suite will not change. Check-In Times: 8am – 6pm, seven days a week.
OK Kids Korral will be available to qualified guests for a maximum of thirty (30) days during any given treatment cycle. After this time, managers will evaluate the guest’s situation with the referral source and determine if a longer stay is needed.
After a Completed Referral Form is submitted to OK Kids Korral, the Communications Coordinator or House Manager will contact the family to inform them of room availability.
Patients and caregivers may be admitted no sooner than one day prior to treatment initiation and must vacate the Korral no later than 24 hours following completion of treatment.
Guests must notify Korral staff of any change in treatment plan and duration. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to communicate schedule changes.
A new referral form is required any time there is a treatment change.
Any child currently receiving cancer treatment can come to the Korral and use the daytime suites. A referral form is needed on the first visit. After that, the family must contact the Korral 24 hours prior to arrival to book a daytime suite.
