Korral Guidelines & Expectations

Korral Guidelines & Expectations

Welcome to OK Kids Korral. We are glad you are staying with us at OK Kids Korral and hope your stay is comfortable. To ensure that each guest is as safe and comfortable as possible, it is vital that every guest in the house abides by the guidelines set forth.

You are living in a communal setting. Please be considerate of others in the Korral. Non-compliance of these guidelines may result in loss of OK Kids Korral services. Thank you.

Important Guidelines to Remember

Alarm
The Korral staff will set an alarm at 10:30pm every night and it will be taken off at 6:30am.  This is for the safety of everyone in the building.  No one is able to come into the building or leave without prior approval from the staff person on duty.

Check-in
All families must be checked into the house before 8pm on the day of arrival. Exceptions will be made if the guest contacts the Korral staff before 6pm to let them know details on arrival. Once you are at the Korral, the Guest Coordinator or House Parent will check you in to your room and give you a tour of the Korral. The Korral is free to any guest, but donations are welcome.  If you wish to make a donation, you may do so via the donation box at the welcome desk or online at www.tobykeithfoundation.org. Due to fire safety codes, we can only permit a maximum of five guests in the overnight suites and two guests in the daytime suites.

Check out procedures
Check out is from 8am – 1pm.  Please leave the room in good order for the next family by completing the provided check out list.  Please also complete the OK Kids Korral guest survey before your departure and leave it with the Coordinator or House Parent on duty.

30 day rule
If you leave a room for more than one day, you must check out.  You may occupy a room at the Korral for 30 consecutive days.  After 30 days, families must work with the Coordinator to do another check in as it will be considered another stay at the Korral.  The Executive Director will decide if there are exceptions that must be made.

Room requests
When a family calls to make a room request, it is not a reservation.  We will only reserve rooms with 24 hours notice from a social worker.  We will then notify the family that a room is available to them.  If a family has stayed with us before and they need a room, again we request 24 hours notice.  All families making their own reservations should call the Korral the day of their visit to ensure we have them on the schedule.

Quiet hours
Quiet hours are to be observed between 10pm and 8am, 7 days a week.

Sign-in/Sign-out
All guests are required to sign out and sign in at the resident log located at the Welcome Desk area.  It is important that the staff be able to locate you in the event a message needs to be relayed to you or in the event of an evacuation.

Staircase and Elevator
All guests should use the main stair case and elevator to go from floor to floor.  No one should use the back staircases at any time unless there is an emergency in the house and it is the fastest exit.

Supervision
Supervision of children is required at all times.  No person under the age of 18 may be present in the Korral without a parent or guardian.  Children under 15 years of age must be present in the room with their parent at all times.  Running or unruly behavior anywhere in the house is not allowed.  If a parent requests a relative who is over 15 years of age watch their child that is permissible with advance notice to the staff.

Visiting hours
Up to four visitors are welcome to visit the patient during the hours of 9am – 8pm Monday through Friday.  Visitors may visit on Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 8pm.  Visitors must wear proper identification and must stay in common areas of the house.  These areas include: lobby, dining area, indoor playroom, outdoor play area and outside patio.  Visitors are not allowed in guest rooms or upstairs at any time.  If a patient is too ill to host visitors in the common areas, an exception may be made with prior approval from the Director.

Non-smoking campus
We prefer that no one smokes on the Korral campus.  However, if you must have an occasional cigarette, please do so behind the wall in the northwest corner of the building.  Also, please dispose of your butts immediately.  If butts are thrown on the ground, the Korral will become a completely nonsmoking campus as the butts cause a fire risk.

Housekeeping
We ask that all families assist in our housekeeping.  Families are asked to clean up after themselves and any of their guests.  Please clean the kitchen with the supplies under the kitchen sink after cooking.

Kitchen/meals
The kitchen is open to you 24 hrs/day.  Meals provided by community volunteers are not guaranteed.  No food or drinks in guest suites or any other area of the Korral, except the kitchen and dining room.  Water will be allowed in guest suites.  If your child needs an occasional snack to take his/her medications, notify the Coordinator or House Parent on duty.  Please mark all your items in the kitchen with your child’s (patient’s) name and your room number.

Laundry room
Washers, dryers and detergent are on the second floor of the building.  Please only use one washer and one dryer at a time and do not leave the building if you are doing laundry.

Guest Room and Computer Access

You will be provided a room number and a phone number for your use. Dial 9 to get an outside line.  NO long distance phone calls can be made from your room. There is a computer in the Family Resource Room for your use and the building is equipped with wireless internet.

Room keys
You will be given two key cards that will give you access to the Korral 24 hrs./day.  If you lose your card, you will be charged $10.00.  Max of two sets per suite.
